The Story
From the ashes of former major label acts, Superbutt was born
in February 2000. Their first, ever recorded song was an AC/DC
classic for a Hungarian AC/DC Tribute record titled 4,5 Volts,
which was released in November 2000. Starting from April 2000
the band was active also on stage and played a fair number
of big Hungarian festivals besides touring heavily around
the country. With the intention of finding a good base for
their music they recorded a 3 song demo (which was only available
at the website) and as a finish of the year, they also shot
the first Superbutt video, Lust Kills, which later was regularly
played by more bigger and smaller Hungarian TV channels.
The demo recordings lived up to the bands’ expectations,
and in February 2001, they signed to Warner Music Hungary.
The first full-length CD, 2 Minutes For Roughing was released
in May 2001 and it was followed by more intensive touring
as before. Besides the usual Hungarian festivals - where Superbutt
became an indispensable guest - they intorduced themselves
in Austria and Germany, where they got to play the famous
With Full Force festival in Leipzig.
In 2002 '2 Minutes For Roughing' album was picked up, and
released in Bulgaria too by local Warner licensee Orpheus
Records. Superbutt also managed to play some memorable shows,
including a short 5 show tour in Hungary, Austria and Italy
with Ignite, their good friends from California, and they
were lucky enough to open also for Rollins Band in February
in Budapest. Later that spring, Superbutt toured in Switzerland,
Germany and Holland, and the band had a very active festival
season through summer in Hungary crowned by headlining the
Metal Hammer Main Stage of the Island Festival. By the end
of August Superbutt's second video Losing My Way was ready
and the band went live again in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium,
France and Switzerland as well as in their home country until
the end of the year.
In January 2003 Superbutt started recording their second full
length album at Warner Music’s Aquarium Studio in Budapest.
The material produced by Ignite’s lead singer Zoli Teglas
came out in June. In July, Pioneer, the first video clip of
the new album landed in the top 10 of the chart of the Hungarian
Viva music television. At the same time the first album 2
Minutes For Roughing was released in France by Next Music
and one of the songs of this record was featured on French
Rock Sound Magazine's sampler cd in July. Meanwhile the band
hasn't stopped touring. After a European round in May-June
Superbutt played a lot of summer festivals including ones
in the Czech Republic, Holland and of course Hungary. The
fall found the band on the road again jumping and sweating
on the stages of clubs in Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium,
Hungary.
In 2004 both Superbutt albums were released in the Benelux
countries by Sonic Rendezvous. Among others the band played
with Enhancer in France and Clawfinger in Belgium. In April,
Superbutt received the 'Best Modern Rock Band of the Year'
award at Viva TV's Music Awards in Hungary. In May, The Unbeatable
Eleven finally came out in Germany (Two Fat Men/Twilight)
and in the UK (TFM) too. The video 'Pioneer' went into the
top 20 of German Viva TV's rock/alternative chart in September.
The release date of The Unbeatable Eleven in France is 25
October. Be sure to keep your ears open!
