Around on the rave scene since 1987, Micky is on one of pioneers from the early days and still smashes up the place where ever he goes. Having always loved music from an early age, he first got into DJ’ing when he had had enough of the DJ’s on the radio talking and interrupting the tunes he was trying to record on tape, so he bought an old pair of decks to play his collection of records on. He went to see Erik B, LL Cool J and Public Enemy and was really intrigued by what he saw. The first thing he ever did was a friends house party in Islington in a café carrying on till the early hours of the morning.

The first residency he got was at the Tunnel Club in Greenwich, which had a license till 10am. Micky’s sister ran the Tunnel Club on certain nights and she told him that she needed to put a name on the flyer. Micky being on the slim side she came up with the name Micky Finn (as in thin). One of the biggest projects that Micky has been involved in was the 1991 tune ‘Some Justice’ with DJ Aphrodite. The tune charted at number 23.

In the early nineties the Break beat and loose jungle techno was filling his record boxes as he travelled the length and breadth of the UK. Such has been the demand for his skills huge events all around the country that he was even starting to catch private planes between gigs.

Micky is busy appearing at all the major events in the UK as well as events in America and is often seen at AWOL and World Dance events. Last years remix of ‘Some Justice’ was a massive tune and is still being played in some clubs and like the ’91 version, got a lot of people interested in the scene. As Micky tours on after the release of his second mix album, The Takeover Bid 2, he has played in excess of 900 cities and collaborated with the Beastie Boys, Moby, Jungle Brothers, Carl Cox, Apollo 440 and Aphrodite.

Micky Finn is one of the most popular and highly regarded DJ’s in jungle. Some DJ’s make their mark through the quality of their own music and others by the quality of their skills as a DJ. Neither way is better then the other, but the former is usually a shorter route. Micky’s way has probably been due more to the latter, as he maybe hasn’t always been as busy behind the mixing desk as some of his counterparts.

Micky Finn is definitely one of the major players in the drum and bass / jungle scene. Certainly no Johnny come lately, Finn has been a pioneer in the sound he dearly loves, demanding respect from the early 90’s where his sets were sought after all over the world. ‘Takeover Bid II’ is the follow up to the original ‘Takeover Bid’, which was released in 1998, and sold over 15,000 copies in the UK alone.
