The band that has it all !!!
They worked hard on their unique sound for three years and finally recorded their stunning debut album together with producer Pontus Lindmark at RoastingHouse Studios. Mon Roe’s self titled debut is a rock/pop album with songs and melodies that gets nailed to your mind and at the same time touches your soul. The attitude of the band’s live act is well reflected in the recordings and with a combination of raw energy and strong melodies. Mon Roe takes a lot of inspiration from classic movies. "The Hustler" from 1961 inspired Saint to write a song about Paul Newman's character "Fast Eddie". Thanks to Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece "Vertigo", the use of orange became important in Mon Roe's artwork and clothing. When it comes to musical influences the band doesn't have any specific ones. But they enjoy listening to the early days of U2, The Police and bands from the new danish pop & rock scene with bands like Kashmir and Mew among others. Their brilliant live performance is a stunning experience as the visual aspect of the band is just as important as the music, which always make them fun to watch. Look out for their first single "Get Away", it's a song that will make you wanna sing and dance and just go crazy !!!
The Story:
Back in 2002, Saint decided to move from Stockholm down to Malmö and start a band with Per and Anders. Saint had played with them both before on different occasions in another band but it later split up. The two guitarists had never met before but when Saint called them and asked if they wanted to start a new band, they both said yes at once. A month later they all had moved to Malmö and Per and Anders met for the first time. The only problem now was that they didn't have a drummer or bass player, which was not very easy to find. It would take a year to find Jimmy and Peter who Saint had heard play with a friend of his and later met them through the same friend. After Jimmy and Peter had been asked if they wanted to try out with the band and listened to some demos, they both said yes. Two weeks later the five of them hooked up to play some of Saint's songs. The first rehearse was a success and in 2003 Mon Roe was formed... Mon Roe wrote several songs and played gigs for a year before they got in touch with Roasting House who had listened to their demo. Thomas Wallén (A&R) appeared at one of their shows and a communication was started between both parts. At the end of 2004 Mon Roe signed with RoastingHouse and the recording of their debut album started a few months later. During the end of the recordings, Mon Roe started to play gigs again and one of those gigs were at Mejeriet in Lund where they supported The Jeans Team from Germany.
