Arrested Development is a family of 19 artists, with Speech as the hub. On each album Speech showcases the diverse membership and keeps the music in a state of constant growth. The GRAMMY Award winning group has been devoted to nudging folks in the direction of freedom and spiritual evolution for 17 years. After a long hiatus the reunited group's sound is still "LifeMusik" aka "Cultural-southern-hip-hop-folk-ethnic-funk". And in a world of one-dimensional hip-hop, Arrested Development comes strong with many rich and vibrant layers.
Their brand new album, Among The Trees is no exception. "Night Time Demons" one of the crew's singles literally depicts the chilling struggle of an addict fighting to stay clean. Speech performs the song live on HBO's DEF POETRY JAM to a standing ovation. "Honeymoon Day" is the Motown driven single dispelling the myth that great sex is exclusive to one night stands, while celebrating marriage, intimacy and being down right freaky! "Wag your Tail" the band's Beatle's diversion wails about escaping from hum drum life to realize your dreams.
While the music industry and politicians alike seem to be in a worldwide case of arrested development, the group Arrested Development is flaming forward with unprecedented force. Named one of the Top 50 Hip Hop Artists Of All Time by VH1 (2003), the group is heavily touring the world to standing-room only crowds! Their live show is an incredible mix of hip hop, African dance, and percussion, Speech on lead vocals has been compared to Bob Marley and the groups ability to transform a concert into a celebration is legendary.
