REVEREND`S REVENGE

Rumors are flying about the secret séances of the band who carried their delta blues through the clubs of Europe since what seems like countless ages. While, since 1999, the 11 headed polyglot, Mardi Gras.bb, has been devouring everything from Ragtime to Swing, Blues and Rock’n’Roll, Country and Soul, and Punk and Pop, has shaken concert halls from Moscow to Quebec, as the “Teutonic Phenomenon” marches forward and worldwide, despite never being part of the conventions of the international Pop music biz, has sold well over 100,000 records.

While this band, which needs no further introduction, advances as a global player, the dissidents surrounding Doc Wenz and Reverend Krug didn’t let the fun being taken out of searching and finding the fringes around the Mardi Gras.bb coordinates. Under the pseudonym, Reverend’s Revenge, they are celebrating another side, something else, the overboard, that always belonged to the heart of the hydra, here and there, but the big conceptual idea had to be given room. Concerts like spirituals, like cult indoctrinations. And now it makes sense with the name, Reverend Krug as spiritual rector of Mardi Gras.bb, as opposed to his alter ego, the showman songwriter and strategist, Wenz, was always for the earthen, intoxicate component of the band.

The decision to finally draw back the curtain and to put these latent tendencies on tape was finally made after, in 2007, the exile Californian, Steve Gaeta, accompanied Reverend’s Revenge on an excursion straight through Bulgaria followed by a dozen Sinti guest musicians. The knowledgeable know Gaeta as the bassist for the legendary Universal Congress Of or as the mastermind of his own band, “Kool Ade Acid Test”.

Besides Krug and the aforementioned Gaeta, the following cast of characters also made their way into the studio: Doc Wenz himself on the Tiger organ, Maria Timm Wachmann, angelic choral singer of the Danish pop icons. “the Broken Beats”, as well as the entire Mardi Gras.bb posse including various stragglers.
